What is the Mantoux Tuberculin Skin Test?
Negative Skin Test
A negative result means your body did not react to the test and that latent TB infection or TB disease is not likely.
However, the test may be falsely negative if you have been exposed very recently. It takes 2-10 weeks after exposure to tuberculosis for the skin test to react positive.
Positive Skin Test
A positive result means your body was infected with the tuberculosis bacteria. Additional tests are needed to determine if latent TB infection or TB disease is present.
